Haramaya University to receive about 5,000 new students

Harar (October 12, 2009) - Haramaya University, one of the state owned higher education institutions said it has finalized preparations to receive close to 5,000 new students in the current academic year.  

The university has carried out all the necessary preparations to admit the stated number of students, the university told ENA on Sunday.  

Classrooms, dormitories, cafeteria and laboratories have already been prepared for the same purpose.  

The expansion construction the university launched at a cost of more than 200 million Birr is being speeded up. Some 70 percent of the expansion construction launched last year has already been completed. 

Upon going fully operational the expansion construction would increase the university’s enrollment capacity to 7,000.  

It would also support efforts of the university to further enhance its Masters and Phd programs
